To continue to carry out our mission to you and our community, your leadership team at St. John’s held a video conference on March 18th.  The Gospel of Jesus was in their ears and you, dear child of God, were in their hearts. And in the spirit of serving you and the Gospel they put together a ministry plan intended to guide ministry for the next three weeks. That said, the leadership team will continue to meet weekly to evaluate the plan according to the latest recommendations.  They are also working on more long range plans, should they be needed. These are well-thought out and discussed plans that are in line with what many other churches are doing, but they are fluid. We seek your patience and understanding.

Cancellations and Postponements

One of the difficult decision areas deals with cancellations and postponements. Please note the following cancellations until further notice. We hope and pray these will be able to resume soon! Also note that access to the facility is limited.

  • Worship
  • Bible Classes and Sunday School
  • Groups, Circles, and Meetings
  • Staff will be in and out of the office daily, but there will be no regular office hours.  We do not encourage visiting the office at this time. Stay at home to protect yourself and others.  Please feel free to call at any time with ministry needs.

We will update our website and calendar with changes to our worship plans.

Online Ministry

Though we will not meet here in person together, we still have a number of ways we will serve you with God’s Word.     We urge you to stay connected with us electronically.

  • Sundays at 9:00am – Worship will be live streamed.  Find the link on the home page  We can be encouraged as we gather together at one time to sing, pray, and listen to God’s Word.  There is an opportunity to not only watch, but check in, say “hi”, and comment. Services will also be archived and available any time through our website and YouTube.
  • Wednesdays (March 25 & April 1) at 7:00pm – Lenten services will be livestreamed.
  • Online Bible Study opportunities are being developed using a private Facebook Group. Search: Come-Grow-Live Online Community and ask to join.
  • Video Messages will continue to be sent via eMessenger.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Are you getting our emails?  If not, please send us a message ( so that we can ensure we have the correct email address on file.

Ministering to Those without Internet

We are also working hard to reach every member of our congregation.  Special care is being given to those who do not have access to the internet or who are not as comfortable using it.

  • Regular phone calls to communicate and to minister will be made.
  • Printed sermons will be mailed weekly.
  • Printed devotions and Bible Studies will be mailed to those who desire them.
  • Our services will continue to be aired on Hastings TV (Channel 14) at 9:00 am.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you know someone without online access, please share this information with them.

Often, when someone asks a friend or family member how they can help during challenging times or in various situations, the response is, “Pray for me!” May we never underestimate the power of prayer. In our prayers, let us give God glory, acknowledge our failings, give him thanks for his goodness and mercy, ask for the needs of others and ask for your own personal needs. Trust that God will hear your prayers and answer them according to his gracious will.

To be straight forward and unapologetic, your continuing and regular offerings are as vital as ever. God’s work at St. John’s continues. Prayerfully consider how you might respond to God’s blessings in your life through your gifts of gratitude.

Even with the information above many of you still may have questions we have not addressed.  If so, please reach out to us, or even just to talk during these unprecedented times. We will do our best to answer the questions that you have.

May God bless our family of faith as we join to carry out our mission: Come. Grow. Live.  We are here to help people come to know Jesus, grow their faith in Jesus, and live their faith in Jesus.  These challenging times may have changed the way it looks, but that remains our mission more than ever before.

Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Thank you for your support. And thank the Lord for his gracious promises to never leave us, to always provide for us, and to meet our needs according to his gracious will.

God be with you and bless you, dear members of God’s family at St. John’s!
